Build
Work directly with real components and develop practical skills through assembly.
Hands on STEM projects that turn abstract ideas into something students can build, test, understand, and make their own.
We want students to do more than read about technology. Our kits are built around the experience of making something real, understanding how it works, and then experimenting with what they created.
Work directly with real components and develop practical skills through assembly.
Connect the build process to the electronics, optics, and design principles behind it.
Keep experimenting after assembly by making visual content and seeing your own ideas come to life.
HoloCube is a hands on STEM kit that combines electronics, optics, fabrication, and creativity in one build. Students connect an ESP32 and OLED display, prepare and solder wires, assemble the enclosure, test the finished device, and then experiment with visual content.
We built our first HoloCube ourselves and quickly realized that the experience could become more than a personal project. Taking individual components and turning them into a finished working device brings together electronics, soldering, optics, fabrication, and creative design in a way that is practical, visual, and rewarding. We saw it as a strong way to introduce students to the world of STEM through something they could build for themselves.
That idea became Unboxed Lab. We currently design, 3D print, program, assemble, and package our projects ourselves. HoloCube is our first kit, but our goal is to keep creating new experiences that give students something real to build, explore, and make their own.
Unboxed Lab is being built around a growing collection of hands on STEM experiences, not a single product.
This is a preview of the instruction experience. The final guide can expand each step with real photos, wiring diagrams, safety notes, and troubleshooting.
Lay out the components, identify the ESP32 and OLED, and prepare the wires needed for the build.
Strip and splice the wires, match the correct connections, and prepare the electronics for soldering.
Solder the connections, place the components into the printed enclosure, and install the optical cube.
Power on the finished HoloCube, test the display, and begin experimenting with animations and 3D visuals.
